Within ten years the majority of young Catholics in the United States will be Hispanic. This is a generation that can be lost to the faith because of a critical lack of qualified pastoral ministers to address the spiritual aspirations of young Hispanics, and bring them the good news of Christ.

Instituto Fe y Vida has a remarkable record in preparing ministers and young adult leaders who can minister to the burgeoning population of young Hispanics and can build leadership in their communities. As Chair of Fe y Vida’s Board, I am thoroughly committed to Instituto Fe y Vida’s Appeal because its mission is so very important for the Church. Funds must be raised to continue and expand the formation programs that are training pastoral ministers for parishes throughout the United States.

I invite you in a very personal way to support our work, by becoming a benefactor. Your generosity will help assure the future strength of our Catholic Church.

Bishop of Yakima, WA
Chairman of Instituto Fe y Vida’s Board of Directors

The graphs show that the demographics of the Catholic Church in the U.S. are rapidly changing. Yet:

•  95% of our parish youth ministers are non-Hispanic.

•  They admit that “responding to the needs of youth from different cultures” is the greatest weakness in their ministry.

— Lay Ecclesial Youth Ministers: Taking the Next Steps, National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, 2001.

Developing the leadership abilities of today’s young Hispanics is indispensable for maintaining the vitality of the Christian faith among Catholic Hispanics, and the strength of our Church in the U.S.

•  Instituto Fe y Vida is the premier national ministry institute engaged in this effort through its leadership formation programs, research, publications, and advocacy. Take a few minutes to look around our website and see the opportunities we provide!

•  YET, the economic resources within the reach of our students are not sufficient to cover the cost of developing and offering these programs and resources.

We invite you to participate in Fe y Vida’s mission and ministries developing a new generation of Hispanic leaders with a financial contribution.
Fe y Vida has received a matching funds grant up to $50,000 for all new contributors, so any donation you can make will be doubly appreciated!
