PROGRAMS WITH BILINGUAL AND MIXED AUDIENCES
The Hispanic community in the United States is bilingual, and Fe y Vida tries to respond to this reality in the best possible way, according to the teaching, personnel and financial resources available. It also offers several programs in which young people and adults can participate together, which produces a rather heterogeneous group of students.
Written resources for most of the programs offered by Fe y Vida are in Spanish, with a growing effort to offer bilingual materials in those that attract young people born in the United States. Therefore, although the majority of teachers are bilingual, the main language of teaching is usually Spanish.
Fe y Vida organizes all its programs in small communities. This allows communities to be created with people who prefer to speak one or another language, as well as by ministry specialization, for example, Youth Ministry, Hispanic Ministry, catechists or parents. This broadens the horizons of the participants, increases the intergenerational appreciating, understanding and collaborating which generates a great wealth of experience for participants. The following table helps to visualize what this dynamic looks like in practice.
